About the Covenant Community
The Covenant Community of Grace is a collection of highly invested people within Grace Community Church who deeply resonate with Grace's purpose and core values. These are the ministers of Grace who are at the forefront of God's plans for our present and our future. It is also our form of membership at Grace. Covenant Community is not a new idea, but a culmination of years of trying to recognize, encourage and empower the core leaders and servants at Grace.
The History of Covenant Community
The evolution of the Covenant Community of Grace began with a desire to accentuate the importance of every follower of Jesus seeing themselves as “ministers” in God’s Kingdom purposes. Somehow, traditional church membership did not capture this body of highly invested believers. For the first 13 years of Grace, we experimented with “participating membership” and a “leadership community,” but even those forms did not capture the heart of this philosophy. In 2004, we took these two bodies and re-formed them into the “Covenant Community of Grace”.
This community is unique compared to other forms of church membership. The Covenant Community of Grace:
- Identifies the core leaders and servants of Grace Community Church.
- Encourages, trains and launches these people into ministries within and outside of Grace.
- Creates a compelling “horizontal gravity” that draws other people toward maturity in Christ and involvement in His Kingdom.
- Renews its covenant with one another annually.
