About Chris Shore
Where did you go to school?
Union School, Modoc, IN (K – 12 in one building), Manchester College (one year), and Free Will Baptist Bible College (Nashville, TN)
Tell us how you became involved with Grace
After serving as a solo senior pastor for ten years, God redirected my focus to children’s ministry. I came to Grace in March of 1995 as the first Pastor of Children’s Ministries. As we restructured our ministries and leadership, I became Pastor of Life Stages, then Pastor of Care & Connection, and in May 2006 began serving in my current role of Executive Pastor.
What do you do around Grace?
As Executive Pastor, I lead the Management Team and give oversight to all of our pastors. It is my responsibility to ensure that all ministries of Grace Community Church stay focused and integrated in accomplishing our purpose to love people to Jesus, connect them into authentic communities, and launch them into God’s kingdom revolution.
Tell us about your family
I have been married to Terri for over 28 years. We have four children—Jared, Brantley, Micaela, and Caleb. I also have the most adorable grandson in the world. His name is Braylen.
As a family, we love watching movies and sports, camping, and doing anything related to baseball!
What is your favorite movie of all time?
Toy Story, Toy Story II, or The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (I know – that’s five movies!)
What is your favorite TV show?
I really don’t watch much TV except for sports. However, I must admit that I have become a big fan of The Office and my family has watched American Idol together for the past few years.
What is your favorite book?
I don’t have a favorite, but a recent book I read that definitely rates near the top is Surprised by Hope by N.T. Wright.
Any special talents to share?
I am a fairly good shade-tree mechanic (I grew up working in an auto repair shop).
What has been your most embarrassing moment in ministry?
While preaching a message at the church I pastored before coming to Grace, something I said didn’t come out quite the way I intended…enough said!
