What We Believe
We believe that:
God is a God who speaks, and He reveals Himself, His acts and His purposes through the Bible. He has left His fingerprints in His creation for us to see. He intervenes in our lives and reveals Himself to us corporately and individually.
The Old and New Testament Scriptures are given to us by God and are consistent with who He is. They speak the truth and point people to Jesus Christ. The Bible takes precedence over culture, tradition and experience — both corporate and individual.
The purpose of creation and of humankind is to reveal God's glory — His character, ways and purposes — and to offer Him willing, loving worship.
As a result of human rebellion against God and His order for the world, the life-giving bond between God and human beings was severed. Death entered the world and all creation became subject to it. Even so, God's love for us and for His creation continues to know no bounds.
Rather than destroy His work and us, His image-bearers, God acted in human history to deliver us from the consequences of our rebellion and to offer us an opportunity so that we, as individuals and as a people, may once again enter the loving relationship with Him that was His first intention for the world.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who, along with the Holy Spirit, has existed through all eternity with God the Father. Jesus entered time and creation as a human being to reveal God and the nature of God's kingdom to us.
As part of God's loving actions, Jesus willingly took the penalty for our rebellion on Himself and died on the cross. His death finally and completely paid for our sin and rebellion.
Jesus is the only way to be restored to a harmonious relationship with our creator Father. Through His death and resurrection, He opened God's kingdom to us so that we may come into His presence as His forgiven and beloved sons and daughters.
God sends the Holy Spirit to live in those who acknowledge their rebellion and respond in repentance and faith to Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the source of life and is our living connection to God the Father, to Jesus, and to other believers.
The Holy Spirit works in the lives of believers to grow them toward being like Jesus. He works through each believer to nurture and to mature the church through spiritual gifts.
Jesus Christ alone is the Head of His Body, the Church, and reveals Himself to the world through individual believers but especially through His people as a whole. As God's people, we are a manifestation of His reign and His kingdom in the world. He calls His people to walk with love and integrity before Him so that the world may see Christ.
We await the final act of God's purposes in earthly human history when Jesus Christ returns to gather His people, to judge the living and the dead, and to fully establish His eternal kingdom.
